Clergy and Staff

Daphne Cody
Rector

I was drawn to St. Peter’s because it’s beautiful without being pretentious.  It was apparent from the start that all kinds of different giftedness is valued and celebrated here.  The redesigned space vividly symbolizes that all the work of all the people is holy: not just liturgy, but also welcoming people, study, office work, conversations, games, outreach planning and execution —not to mention just hanging out!

I’ve been a priest for twenty-five years, serving in several different congregations in the Diocese of Chicago.  In this parish, I feel grateful to meet God in the city itself, to learn and grow as a Christian in such a busy, culturally rich setting.  I enjoy interfaith and intercultural work, studying scripture, preaching, organizing pilgrimages, and developing congregations and congregational leaders.  Outside of church, you might find me camping with my husband Jason in our tent, doing needlework, reading or writing, or walking to Lake Michigan.

Rob Carpenter
Parish Administrator

While I started my role as Parish Administrator in June 2022, I had actually been involved with St. Peter's seven years prior when my older son Charlie became the Parish Musician. During that initial interview for Charlie, I knew St. Peter’s was going to be the perfect place for both of us: the warmth I felt in the sanctuary space was matched by the warmth of the parishioners who supported our new beginning.

I spent a 30+ year career in Marketing Research and Consulting and held various global roles for Ipsos, based in Paris.

My spouse Julie and our younger son Harry live in Edgewater. When not at St. Peter's, you can see me as a volunteer waiter at Misericordia's Greenhouse Inn working alongside Charlie - or not see me as a database contributor for Care for Real food and clothing pantry in Edgewater.

Kay Casavant
Bookkeeper

I am a proud Illinoisan now calling Arlington Heights home. Armed with a bachelor’s degree from NIU and CPA certification, I launched my career as a financial auditor at KPMG. I later pursued a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Chicago, leading me into a decades-long career in software development. Now in my semi-retirement phase, I have returned to my roots, focusing on Accounting, Tax preparation, and Bookkeeping.

Off duty, you’ll find me immersed in my kitchen, garden, or by the fireplace with a good book. Thrilled to join St. Peter’s, I look forward to playing a role in contributing to the community's success.

Charlie Carpenter
Parish Musician

I am the pipe organist and pianist and have been at St. Peter’s since 2015. What I love about St. Peter’s is the community and the pipe organ. And I really like it when we have strong singers during service!

I received formal instruction on the piano beginning at age six, and from 2008 to 2018, studied pipe organ with Dr. Dennis Northway, former Parish Musician at Grace Episcopal Church in Oak Park. I am currently a student of David Jonies, Director of Music and Organist at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago.

I have had the good fortune of having performance opportunities on magnificent pipe organs near and far, beginning in 2011 at the 14th century Gothic Basilica Santa Maria del Pi in Barcelona. In 2012, I was invited to perform at the Organ Historical Society National Convention in Chicago and in 2014, performed for the WFMT Chicago Bach Organ Project, opening the program for internationally-acclaimed organist and friend Nathan Laube.

On a trip to England in 2015, I did a recital at the Norwich Cathedral, plus enjoyed a rare opportunity to play the newly-dedicated Dobson organ at the Merton College Chapel at the University of Oxford. In early 2018, I was selected as one of three finalists for the Midwest American Guild of Organists annual Young Organists Scholarship Competition.

During the pandemic, I performed a virtual pipe organ recital at Loyola University’s Madonna della Strada in January 2021: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBHMxJsylAc and also performed a live concert at Loyola in October 2022.

I am currently a resident at Misericordia Heart of Mercy in Chicago and provide musical liturgy through their Heartzingers choir, which performs concerts throughout Chicago. e are all called to do God's work in the world. We are called to be beacons of love, grace, and hope to everyone we encounter and most especially for those who are hurt and suffering in mind, body, and spirit.
